Commander, welcome to the British camp.
I am going to tell you about the British army and there current situation. But first i need to bring you up to speed on the events leading to war and what then happened when war was declared. So first lets recap on what happened on the run up to the British entering World War Two. The following events happened in the following order:
On the 25th of August Hitler's request came to attack Poland, this was then cancelled on the 26th when Hitler heard that Britain and Poland has signed a formal alliance. Also he learnt that Mussolini the Italian leader was unwilling to a war at this stage.
On the 21st of August 1939 Hitler decided that the German army would invade Poland on the 1st of September, An attack was faked on a German radio station by SS troops in polish uniforms. They left behind some bodies complete with polish uniforms in an attempt to convince the world that Poland was in fact the aggressor.
On the 1st of September the invasion of Poland goes ahead as planned codenamed Fall Weiss "plan white". Meanwhile the British government is openly opposed to the passive line that Chamberlain is taking and in the evening the cabinet prepare to deliver an ultimatum to Germany. A French ultimatum was also sent.
And then on the 3rd of December the British ultimatum was due to run out at 1100 hours, At 1115 hours Prime Minister Chamberlain made his famous speech that many Britain's still remember today. Telling of how war had been declared on Germany. We have managed to secure a copy of the speech *.
